1885 Wild Rose by Tiffany & Co. Sterling Spoon Ring
**Very Important information on your treasure** Please choose between a spiral or flush style ring. (See second photo) The flush style ring will include the Tiffany & Co. makers mark stamp on the handle only for the largest size in this ring. Smaller sizes will remove the portion of the handle with the makers mark to accommodate the size. *Flush style rings are final sale* due to the nature of the sizing modification. Spiral rings will include the Tiffany and Company makers mark, regardless of the size. I want to make sure this treasure is something you adore and love to wear for a lifetime.
Spoon Lore:
This sterling Wild Rose spoon ring was made from the Floral set designed by the Tiffany & Co. In 1885
Design designed by Tiffany and Company in 1885, the Foral set is a tour-de-force of Art Nouveau naturalism. Each 4 inch spoon features a unique flower:
Daisy for alluring an love
Dandelion for happiness and friendship
Pansy for thoughtfulness and remembrance
Violet for humility and devotion
Forget me not for remembrance and fidelity
Thistle for nobility and bravery
Gentian for charm and loveliness
Wild Rose for passion romance
Marigold for creativity and affection
Ragged Sailor for wit and playfulness
Morning Glory for affection and mortality
and Clover for prosperity and happiness
Each blossom wonderfully crafted in high relief along the stem. Rather than make a set of repeating blossoms, Tiffany designed a miniature botanical collection, drawing on the Victoria language of flowers, and the firms love for wild and cultivated blooms alike.
How it feels on your hand:
Made from a dainty 4.5 inch coffee spoon, this pattern sits light and comfortably on the hand. Your choice between a flush ring or spiral ring (Please see the second photo). Any style you choose will be soldered shut in the size you choose. This will add additional strength to the ring, which will allow you to wear this treasure for a lifetime!
Available in sizes 5 to 11 - Fourth and half sizes available as well. This pattern was photographed in size 11. Please choose between a flush or spiral style ring and the size you would like.
Both the flush and the spiral style ring will be soldered shut in the size you desire. This will add it additional strength to the ring and allow you to wear this treasure for a lifetime!
Oh, If Spoons Could Talk
I love spoon jewelry. And I love hunting for the most beautiful spoons to make it! Spoon jewelry is a little wearable piece of history allowing the story and beauty of the pattern to be displayed and treasured, rather than being forgotten in a drawer or melted down as many of these antique beauties are.
All the pieces I make are from the original antique spoons - none are copies or casts - and I make each by hand, giving care and though to how each pattern is best shaped and displayed.
Using the original sterling silverware means each piece is not only beautiful in design, but full of indications that it has lived life. Maybe a faded monogram or little wear spots - I enjoy thinking about the places they have been and who might have held them 100 years ago. Each piece is, therefore, truly unique.
I have discovered more than one of some of these spoon patterns, so each piece will come with its own character and story, varying slightly on little wear spots and marks from the photo in the listing - There will not be two that are exactly the same, each piece is truly unique.
I hope the piece you choose resonates with your own story and will be a piece you treasure for generations.
