The Amber Queen. A silver necklace made from the Art Nouveau Maiden pattern designed by W. Schwechten of Berlin Germany between 1895-1910. Set with ancient Baltic amber, tourmaline, and singed with the Lady Forge mark.
I was lucky enough to find a small set of these beautiful Art Nouveau spoons. Each necklace will be made by hand with care, each with its own character, each amber stone with unique flecks of fire.
Spoon Lore:
I knew there could be only one stone held loft between this maiden‘s hands. A piece of ancient Baltic Amber with flecks of fire within it. A drop of Turmaline to accent the lower portion of the necklace which I made from the design on the back of the spoon bowl.
The pattern was designed by W. Schwechten of Berlin was crafted during the height of the Art Nouveau movement between 1895 and 1910. It is classic art nouveau, a regal female figure emerging from the silver itself, her hands aloft as if holding a crown, as her long tresses cascade around her.
She lay forgotten in a drawer for a century, but in her new form she’s ready to be cherished for another hundred years. Crowned her with ancient Baltic Amber with a little piece of myself to mark her transformation.

Oh, If Spoons Could Talk
I love spoon jewelry. And I love hunting for the most beautiful spoons to make it! Spoon jewelry is a little wearable piece of history allowing the story and beauty of the pattern to be displayed and treasured, rather than being forgotten in a drawer or melted down as many of these antique beauties are.
All the pieces I make are from the original antique spoons - none are copies or casts - and I make each by hand, giving care and though to how each pattern is best shaped and displayed.
Using the original sterling silverware means each piece is not only beautiful in design, but full of indications that it has lived life. Maybe a faded monogram or little wear spots - I enjoy thinking about the places they have been and who might have held them 100 years ago. Each piece is, therefore, truly unique. I have discovered more than one of some of these spoon patterns, so each piece will come with its own character and story, varying slightly on little wear spots and marks - There will not be two that are exactly the same!
I hope the piece you choose resonates with your own story and will be a piece you treasure for generations.
